Read more about our dear colleagues below.
Gunnar Frykforsis a business graduate and chef and started Rent a Chef in 2004. His strength is combining flavours that go together and finding umami in simple things. As a child he always ordered the most expensive item on the menu: entrecôte, halibut and preferably potatoes au gratin.
Silvano ILardodiscovered his passion for food in 1996 when he began his studies to become a professional chef. He was born and raised in the Italian city of Turin. His journey continued to restaurants and hotels such as Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains and El Bulli Hotel Hacienda Benazuza. He became head chef at restaurants such as Komo Restaurant in Seville and Gordon Ramsay in London.
Silvano runs our Italian and Spanish classes and now and then goes home to cook as a home chef for our guests.
Robert Melin has worked as a chef for almost 35 years and is still passionate about cooking. Always learning and fascinated by new things and flavours!
Japan and sushi have always been close to my heart. Robert is also an author specialising in Asian cuisine, having written three books on the subject: “En Handbok sushi”, “Sushi och andra japanska läckerheter” and most recently “Sushi, sashimi, yakimono, agemono, nabemono, menrui & andra japanska rätter”. Book number 2 was chosen “Asian cookbook of the year” two years in a row.
Ola Fagerstrandis our man in Malmö. He is a Swedish champion who likes generous oils and sharp knives. Ola is happy to talk loudly and softly with cheerful guests and is passionate about the whole and about joy. A guy you gladly recommend because he creates a cosy atmosphere and pleasant food experiences. Nothing more is needed.
Gunnar Erlandssonhas long experience as both chef and head of kitchen. Nowadays he works as a cooking teacher and knows how to handle a group pedagogically. He likes to cook Asian food with large amounts of chilli. Gunnar loves to fish, cook the fish and finally eat it.
David Holzmann is responsible for Rent a Chef in Dalarna. After finishing compulsory school he moved to Germany to train as a chef. After working all over Europe he moved back home to Sweden and Dalarna. Since then he has, among other things, competed in Kockarnas Kamp and Köksmästarna on Kanal 5. Asked about David’s favourite dishes he answers: – It should be simple, like goulash or schnitzel.
Elke Jungis our sommelier and is happy to help you choose wines for your dinner.
Elke is a versatile individual with an impressive background in hotel and restaurant management from Switzerland. She has also trained as a sommelier and journalist, which further enriches her field of expertise. Since the mid-1980s Elke has been an active part of the restaurant industry, where she has accumulated rich experience and knowledge.
Elke Jung is thus a prominent personality in the restaurant and wine industry, whose knowledge and commitment have enriched and inspired both colleagues and enthusiasts around the country.
Mats Westergrenis the chef who loves desserts and conducting the team in the kitchen. Knives are his most important tools, preferably German or Japanese. It was his grandmother and all the baking and cooking at home that made him become a chef.
Kristina Vargushenkovaturns chaos, deadlines and random ingredients into something people remember. She thinks salt is the kitchen’s most underrated ingredient – without salt everything tastes like missed chances. Her spice is chilli flakes: looks harmless, but a second too much and it stings.
Valerio Sinatracooks Italian food with a Scandinavian twist – classic Mediterranean flavours refined with Swedish simplicity and balance. His food philosophy is built on respect for the ingredient: let it speak, do not overcomplicate and aim for harmony between the safe and the surprising. After a long shift it is a big plate of pasta with olive oil, chilli, garlic and guanciale.
Jimi Karlssonis our man on Gotland. His speciality is new exciting flavours, which has among other things led him to develop flavours on Gotland snus. Jimi has over ten years of experience from fine-dining restaurants in Greece, London and all over Sweden. He has also developed an extremely hot chilli sauce called Evil Chefs. Of course grown, made and packaged by hand on Gotland.
